bio and statement

Raised in Sonoma County, attended SRJC and SSU, and seminary BPI,  Heather Smyth Hanan also attended the College of Marin during her twenty five years in Marin County, where she learned to paint.

Smyth Hanan's first solo show 2004 at a cafe in the Haight Ashbury, Squat & Gobble, sold the large 60" x 48" Pallette knifed brilliant ultramarine blue RainbowBird/Chakra Woman. Hanan's brightly colored paintings continue to sell in small cafes and other venues throughout San Francisco in both solo and group shows. Exhibits with ARTworkSF and McKinley Art Solutions.  Her current exhibit is also in the Haight at Crepes on Cole, 100 Carl St. San Francisco, CA, Oct. 2015 through Jan. 2016.

Her main influences include Matisse, Klimt, Sargent, Chagall.  The Fauves remain her favorite.
